In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Commissioner’s Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in Macao SAR, the Commissioner’s Office, in cooperation with the Macao SAR government, organizes series of visiting programs for the “Thousand Talents Union”.

The first program--“Ambassador’s Lecture” was held on September 19. H.E. Mr. Ni Jian, the Chinese ambassador to the United Arab Emirates was invited to give a lecture to around 60 members of the “Thousand Talents Union”. They are students from various universities and middle schools of Macao and young people from all walks of local society. Deputy Commissioner Yuan Hengge, young diplomats of the Commissioner’s Office as well as officials from the Macao SAR government and Macao Foundation also attended the event.

Using stories, pictures and statistics, Ambassador Ni introduced the political, economic and social situation of U.A.E., highlighted the big moments in the recent development of China-U.A.E. relations, and answered questions raised by the audience. He expressed the hope that the young people could cherish the stability and prosperity of Macao, uphold the good tradition of loving the motherland and Macao, and make contributions to the practice of the one country, two systems principle and the realization of the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

The “Thousand Talents Union” members listened attentively and actively participated in the Q&A session. They felt that they benefited a lot from the lecture, as it not only helped to widen their vision and increase their knowledge, but also raised their awareness of the importance of China’s diplomacy in pursuit of world’s peace and common development, therefore it strengthened their determination to serve Macao and the motherland.

Based on the Macao SAR government’s “Thousand Talents Program”, “Thousands Talents Union” is a platform aiming at expanding the knowledge of Macao's young people towards Macao SAR, China and the world, enhancing their capacity and preparing them for the long-term development of Macao SAR and China. The program of “Visiting the Commissioner’s Office”is composed of five episodes, and will be held during September and November.
