On November 5, Commissioner Shen Beili met with Mr. Mehdi Hasan, Consul General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong, at the Commissioner's Office.

Commissioner Shen spoke highly of the China-Bangladesh relations as well as the exchanges and cooperation between the Macao SAR and Bangladesh. She introduced the successful practice of "one country, two systems" in the Macao SAR and the city’s economic and social development during the last 20 years. She said that with the progress made in the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Macao enjoys an increasingly prominent position in the regional collaboration and the overall development of the country, which brings new opportunities for Macao and Bangladesh. She hoped that Mr. Mehdi Hasan could actively promote the cooperation between the two sides in areas such as trade, education and tourism, and reassured the willingness of the Commissioner’s Office to assist in this regard.

Consul General Hasan praised the friendship between the two countries and thanked China for her long-standing support for his country’s development. He stressed that he would try to get a comprehensive understanding of the cause of "one country, two systems" and Macao SAR, and make unremitting efforts to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between Bangladesh and Macao SAR in various fields.
