2019/11/09

On November 8 , Commissioner Shen Beili met with the outgoing Consul General of Angola in Macao, Ms. Sofia Pegado da Silva, at the Commissioner’s Office.

Commissioner Shen spoke highly of the China-Angola strategic partnership and appreciated the Consul General's contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the Macao SAR and Angola during her tenure. She said that with the continuous development of Macao's role as the "platform for commerce and trade cooperation service between China and Lusophone countries", cooperation between Macao and Angola faces broader prospects. The two sides should seize the opportunity to expand cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, Chinese medicine and people-to-people exchange. She hoped the Consul General could continue to support cooperation between the Macao SAR and Angola and introduce more to the Angolan people the successful "Story of Macao" under the framework of "one country, two systems" after leaving office.

The Consul General happily recalled the experiences of working and living in Macao as well as attending various activities organized by the Commissioner’s office, and gave heartfelt thanks to the Commissioner’s Office for assisting her work. She said that China is a long-standing friend and partner of Angola, and it was an honor for her to witness the development of bilateral relations and the successful implementation of "one country, two systems" in the Macao SAR in recent years. She would continue to play a positive role in friendly exchanges between Angola and Macao in the future.
