Acting Comissioner Wang Dong Meets with Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, New Rector of the University of Saint Joseph in Macau

On 16 October 2020, Acting Commissioner Wang Dong met with Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, the new Rector of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macau, among others.

Giving a brief introduction of the leadership team, history, education philosophy and development plan of USJ, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan indicated that USJ will adhere to the principle of “in, of and for Macau China”, expand educational cooperation with mainland, and play an active role in fostering young talents, promoting the development of Macau’s society, as well as advancing the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.

Congratulating Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan and Prof. Zhang Shuguang on their appointments as the Rector and Vice Rector of USJ respectively, Wang Dong spoke highly of the achievements USJ has made in the past 24 years. She encouraged the leadership team of USJ to follow the instructions President Xi Jinping made in his letter replied to Macau’s tertiary education institutions in 2018, stick to the right orientation in education, leverage its special advantages, register more achievements, so as to make new contribution to Macau’s sustainable stability and prosperity. The Commissioner’s Office is always ready to support all primary, secondary schools and higher education institutions in Macau, including USJ, in carrying out exchanges with foreign countries, as well as fostering more China-loving Macau-loving talents.
