Commissioner Liu Xianfa Calls on Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng

On February 26, Mr. Liu Xianfa, the new Commissioner of the Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao Special Administrative Region, paid a visit to Mr. Ho Iat Seng, the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region. Director Hoi Lai Fong of the Office of the Chief Executive, Director Lao Kuan Lai of the Bureau of Affairs of the Government Headquarters, Deputy Commissioners Wang Dong and Yuan Hengge were present.

Commissioner Liu Xianfa said that at the historical moment when China is about to realize the first centenary goal and start a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, he feels deeply honored to have the opportunity to participate in the great practice of "one country, two systems" in Macao and is ready to shoulder the great responsibility. Over the past 20 old years since Macao's return to the motherland, the SAR government has made great achievements in economic and social development. Over the past year, the SAR government has done a lot of active and effective work in coordinating epidemic prevention and economic development. The Commissioner’s Office will continue to firmly implement instructions from President Xi Jinping on diplomacy and Macao issues, as well as to carry out central government’s Macao related decisions and arrangements, fully and accurately implement "one country, two systems" policy, strictly abide by the constitution and the basic law, make efforts to safeguard national sovereignty security and development interests, actively support Macao’s external exchanges and cooperation, create good external environment for the long-term prosperity and stability of Macao.

Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng welcomed the arrival of Commissioner Liu Xianfa, and thanked the long time support and efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Commissioner’s Office on external affairs of Macao. He said that the Macao SAR government will strengthen communication and coordination with the Commissioner’s Office, safeguard national interests and the security and stability of Macao SAR, promoting the practice of "one country, two systems" with Macao characteristics in a stable and sustainable way.
