On January 27, 2026, acting Commissioner Cheng Lei met with Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Pakistani Ambassador to China.

Cheng said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Pakistan, China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership remains an important stabilizing factor in the regional as well as international landscape. Since its return to the motherland, Macao has achieved an enormous success in advancing the practice of "one country, two systems" with distinctive Macao features. The Macao SAR and Pakistan have great potential for cooperation. The Commissioner's Office is ready as always to provide necessary assistance and support.

Hashmi said that Pakistan and China share solid friendship and close cooperation. The Pakistani side values the cooperation with China and is ready to further deepen cooperation with Macao in areas such as economy, trade, tourism and education.

Consul-General of Pakistan in Hong Kong Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh also attended the meeting.
