On February 12, the newly appointed Commissioner Bian Lixin of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR, paid a courtesy call on president of the eighth Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR, Mr. Cheong Weng Chon.

Commissioner Bian Lixin congratulated on the good start for the new Legislative Assembly and spoke highly of its important role in advancing Macao's rule of law, implementing the principle of executive-led system, and improving the governance of Macao SAR. She said that the Commissioner's Office will continue to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security, development interests, and will strongly support the Legislative Assembly in expanding external exchanges and cooperation, so as to create a favorable external environment for the long-lasting prosperity and stability of Macao.
Mr. Cheong Weng Chon welcomed Commissioner Bian Lixin to assume office and appreciated the guidance and support of the Office to the international cooperation of the Legislative Assembly. He expressed willingness to strengthen communication with the Office, open up a new chapter in Legislative Assembly's external exchanges and leverage unique advantages to tell the stories of successful practice of "one country, two systems" with Macao characteristics.
