From July 6 to 10, the Commissioner’s Office and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government organized a study trip to Gyeongju, Busan and Seoul of the Republic of Korea for over 50 award-winning teachers and students of the 16th Macao Youth Diplomatic Knowledge Competition, under the theme of “Follow the Footsteps of President Xi and Witness Asia-Pacific Development”.

The delegation retraced the itinerary of President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the ROK and attendance at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting held in Gyeongju in 2025. They paid a visit to Seoul National University to review the scenes of President Xi’s visit there back in 2014. They visited the Chinese Consulate General in Busan, where Consul General Mr. Chen Ribiao and youth diplomats exchanged views with them. They also visited the Confucius Institute at Dong-a University for exchange and cultural activities.

Participating teachers and students expressed gratitude to the Commissioner’s Office for arranging this study trip to the host country of the previous APEC summit amid the APEC “China Year”. They said that the on-site visit helped them gain a profound understanding of the power of President Xi’s thought, and deepened their insights into China’s foreign policies and the outcomes of Asia-Pacific cooperation. They pledged to firmly uphold the core values of loving the motherland and loving Macao, give full play to the unique role of Macao youth for the APEC “China Year”, and make greater contributions to major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
