On July 16, Commissioner Bian Lixin met with Consul General of Malaysia in Hong Kong, Mr. Muzambli Markam.

Bian Lixin noted that President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Malaysia in April last year, and the two countries announced the establishment of a high-level strategic China–Malaysia community with a shared future, bringing our bilateral relations to a new high in history. Macao and Malaysia have enhanced economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in recent years. It is hoped that Malaysia would leverage the comprehensive advantages of Macao and the Guangdong-Macao in-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to further promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and contribute to greater development of China-Malaysia relations.

Muzambli Markam said that Malaysia firmly adheres to the one-China policy and supports the principle of One Country, Two Systems. The Consulate General is willing to strengthen communication with the Commissioner's Office to continuously enhance exchanges between Malaysia and Macao in areas such as trade, investment, education, science and technology, and push forward the practical cooperation between the two sides in the days ahead.
