From July 20 to 24, a delegation of 11 cultural officials from 9 Portuguese-speaking countries visited Guangzhou, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Macao, at the invitation of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Macao SAR Government.

In Guangzhou, the delegation met with the municipal government officials and visited the site of the Third National Congress of the Communist Party of China, as well as museums and traditional cultural blocks, to gain a comprehensive and multi-faceted understanding of Guangzhou's revolutionary culture, thousand-year-old commercial traditions and intangible cultural heritage.

In Hengqin, the delegation exchanged views with officials of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone and visited the Hengqin Planning Exhibition Hall and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology and Creativity Museum, experiencing the pulse of Hengqin-Macao coordinated development and exploring international cooperation opportunities.

In Macao, Commissioner Bian Lixin and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government O Lam met with the delegation. The delegation also held discussions with Wu Zhiliang, President of the Board of Directors of the Macao Foundation, and Leong Wai Man, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. In addition, the delegation visited the Historic Centre of Macao and other cultural landmarks, experiencing the success practice of "One Country, Two Systems" with Macao characteristics and the city's charm as a fusion of Chinese and Western civilizations.

The delegation members spoke highly of the trip, citing that they were deeply impressed by China's commendable efforts in protecting and passing on its traditional culture, and the way Chinese-style modernization has combined the preservation and innovation of traditional culture. They hailed the vibrant energy and opportunities in the Greater Bay Area's development, and deemed Macao as the best platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries. All in all, they looked forward to deepening exchanges and mutual learning through cultural bridge, jointly writing a new chapter of friendly cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
