From September 14 to 18, Deputy Commissioner Cheng Lei led a delegation of participating experts and scholars of “Forum of Think Tanks between China and Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking Countries 2026” to Guangzhou, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Macao.

The delegation held discussions with experts from the Guangdong Institute for International Strategies on implementing the Global Governance Initiative. The delegation also visited EHang Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd, the Hengqin Planning Exhibition Hall, the Service Centre for Economy and Trade between China and Portuguese/Spanish-speaking Countries and the Historic Centre of Macao. Through the visit, the delegation gained insights into the development of the Greater Bay Area and the integration of Hengqin and Macao, while experiencing the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" with Macao characteristics and the convergence of chinese and western cultures. The scholars said that the successful implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macao, along with the fruitful outcomes of the Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, have provided concrete references and paradigms for advancing the implementation of the Global Governance Initiative, and expressed willingness to leverage Macao as a bridge to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, thereby contributing further to people-to-people ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and portuguese-speaking and spanish-speaking Countries.
