From October 15 to 18, a delegation of young Brazilian diplomats visited Macao. The delegation engaged in exchanges with the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, as well as the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao). The delegation also held in-depth discussions with teachers and students from the University of Macau on topics including successful practice of “one country, two systems” and China-Brazil relations. In addition, the delegation visited the Historic Centre of Macao and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, gaining a deeper understanding of Macao’s unique charm as a place where Chinese and Western cultures converge, and the achievements of integrated development between Hengqin and Macao.

Acting Commissioner Cheng Lei held an exchange event with the delegation and delivered remarks. He noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Brazil relations have achieved leapfrog development. Macao serves as a distinctive bridge for China-Brazil relations. The Commissioner’s Office will continue to support Macao in strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Brazil and welcome Brazil’s active participation in the development of Macao’s role as a platform for cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries, so as to inject new vitality into China-Brazil community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet.
The delegation spoke highly of the successful practice of “one country, two systems” with Macao characteristics, noting that Macao has set an example for the convergence of Chinese and Western civilizations. Through this visit, the delegation gained firsthand knowledge of Macao’s role as a “precise connector” between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. They expressed their commitment to further deepening friendship between Brazil and China, and to promoting exchanges and cooperation between Brazil and Macao.
